Standard electronic T8 ballast technology can reduce energy consumption by 35% compared to magnetic ballasts with T12 lamps. Along with the energy savings comes a number of other superior performance features for a quality lighting system. When energy saving retrofits are implemented, not only is the operating cost of lighting reduced but additional heat from inefficient magnetic ballasts is removed which lightens the load for air conditioning systems. For every hundred watts in lighting power that is removed another 30 watt reduction in cooling costs is saved during those months where air conditioning is operating.
