Universal Lighting Technologies
Universal Lighting is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of energy efficient lighting products. Universal developed the first commercially available electronic ballast under the Triad brand in the late 1960’s and has continued to develop electronic lighting technologies that conserve energy and save money. Being Green is the process of changing or designing as to have a lesser impact on the environment. Today Environmental Awareness is growing among companies and the government with new legislation that dictates energy savings measures from companies and now in California even residential buildings. Statistics from the DOE Energy Information Administration state, “Electricity accounted for 50% of commercial delivered energy consumption in 2003, and its share is predicted to increase to 57% by 2025.” The facts look dim. Reality is that lighting typically accounts for up to 40% of your total electrical utility bill…and electricity costs represent 87 cents out of every dollar spent on lighting. If your facility still uses older lighting technologies (such as T12 lamps and magnetic ballasts, or standard T8 Ballasts and lamps), your costs WILL be going up. Standard electronic T8 ballast technology can reduce energy consumption by 35% compared to magnetic ballasts with T12 lamps. Along with the energy savings comes a number of other superior performance features for a quality lighting system. When energy saving retrofits are implemented, not only is the operating cost of lighting reduced but additional heat from inefficient magnetic ballasts is removed which lightens the load for air conditioning systems. For every hundred watts in lighting power that is removed another 30 watt reduction in cooling costs is saved during those months where air conditioning is operating.
Universal is the industry leader in high efficiency T8 technology with the ULTim8® ballast family. ULTim8 ballasts provide incremental efficiency improvements over standard electronic ballasts by another 6 to 8 percent. They are designed to operate standard F32T8 lamps and also the new energy saving 30 watt, 28 watt, and 25 watt four foot T8 lamps. For new applications or energy saving upgrades, ULTim8 ballasts provide maximum energy savings and low operating costs. Universal’s controllable lighting products provide technology for even greater energy savings. A variety of products that use technologies incorporating analog dimming, light-level switching, and digital dimming are available. Not only do these products improve the lighting atmosphere within a building; they also reduce the operating costs. Look to Universal for your energy saving lighting solutions.
