Job Description:

The Category Specialist is responsible for the daily operations of the SiteStuff Sustainability initiatives and coordinating with vendors and customers Special Projects.  This includes: maintaining/managing catalog data for the Sustainability offering, resolving escalated order management issues with Project Orders, assisting in enhancing manufacturer/supplier relationships, locating new Category offerings, and identifying both positive and negative supplier performance trends.   The category specialist is also required to be a resident expert in product knowledge for SiteStuff employees and Customers for Sustainability and differing types of projects, but this knowledge can be enhanced internally.  The ultimate success of this role will be measured by the financial performance of Projects and the growth of the Sustainability offering, finally the evaluation of the Director, Sustainability and Projects.

The Category Specialist reports to the Director, Sustainability and Projects.

Specific requirements:

  • Maintain catalog data
    • Recommend products for addition and deletion to the SiteStuff catalog
    • Gather and consolidate required product data
    • Manage product substitutions, update catalog for discontinued products
    • Proactively work with vendors and distributors to enhance and update product presentation within SiteStuff online catalog
  • Manage Project orders
    • Quote customer requested Projects
    • Place orders for customers as needed
    • Proactively track orders with suppliers as needed to ensure timely delivery
    • Identify new suppliers and product lines to enhance Project offerings
  • Complete product cross-matching
    • Develop strong product knowledge
    • Cross-match competitor and other product descriptions to correct SiteStuff products
    • Leverage partners as necessary to assist with the same

Skills/Capabilities/Experience Required:

  • 4 year college degree preferred
  • Experience with Construction or Lighting projects preferred
  • Ability to complete tasks and projects within short deadlines
  • Proven capability to execute on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Detail orientation
  • Strong proficiency with MS Excel, intermediate proficiency with other MS Office applications.  High degree of comfort with using technology and systems
